Bullfinch

Bullfinch

122x244cm

‘Bullfinch’ is on display on the outside wall café area of the ERT theatre in Beverley. The positioning of this painting works wonderfully as it is in a seated enclosure with a beautiful tree roofing you.

There is a fascinating area of Beverley called the Westwood, which is where I have based this painting. I wanted to give the viewer a sense of nostalgia. Of a place they might have been.

Three large panels were painted in acrylic and then sealed within an inch of there lives to withstand the outside elements.

As with all my work the investigation and building up of references to use on a painting is a huge part of the final result. I surround myself with all the information I have gathered on a subject, only then do I start to form a plan that gradually opens itself as I start to paint.
