Natural Instinct

Beckside in Beverley, East Riding

In this series I painted four walls on the two supporting columns of the fly over adjacent to the water way of the Beckside in Beverley, East Riding. My inspiration for this design comes from our natural Instinct to capture a fleeting image, a transient moment, weather this be on our phone, cameras or being still to observe these scenes that last a short time.

Including the local community, I reached out to a local fb photography group called Wildside Of Beverley Beck, who take inspiration from this immediate area. With permission I chose four images to work from. I wanted to include figures within the design and was very aware while gathering inspiration sketches on site that this was a well-used area and decided to include the silhouettes of people who gave me permission, including a good number of very happy dogs. Community Vision, gathered responses from the local community on what they would like to see within the mural.
