Community Mural Project in Bridlington
Natural Compass was a vibrant community mural project that transformed the old tennis courts in Westhill Est, Bridlington.
The project brought together volunteers from the Rewilding group and local youngsters from St. Mark’s Church Centre, whose energy, creativity, and dedication brought the mural to life across the expansive tennis court. To involve the local community from the start, I hosted an open gathering at the church centre. Attendees shared their ideas and helped create a collage of shapes, colours, and inspirations they wanted to see reflected in the mural. This collaborative process resulted in a design full of personality, imagination, and community spirit.
Because the tennis court is surrounded by homes on all four sides, it was essential that the artwork felt respectful and balanced. One local resident even stopped to say, “It’s a joy to open my curtains in the morning and see this mural.”
Together, we created a mural that not only engaged the community in the creative process but also transformed a familiar space into something positive, inspiring, and cherished by everyone who passes by.
