Inspiring with Nature's Beauty
Sunflower Bridge was brought to life on a railway footpath in Goole through a collaborative project with local youngsters and ERVAS.
The design drew inspiration from the nearby allotments, bursting with towering sunflowers. To spark creativity, I first scaled up the sunflower outlines along both inner sides of the bridge. The youngsters then had the opportunity to work individually or in pairs, adding their own interpretations using suggested techniques and shading.
The results were stunning. What was once a heavily tagged bridge covered with negative words was transformed into a bright, uplifting space that brings joy to everyone who walks across it.
