The Wateriness Within Us 2m X 1.4m Scratchwork Rotary Carving And Paint On Two Reconstructed Wooden Doors
The ‘Wateriness Within Us’ is a 3D installation created from two wooden front doors to represent community experience with flooding, resilience and the positive stories of how people help each other under extreme circumstances.
The Risky Cities ‘Flow Of Words’ led by the University of Hull, commissioned five artists to interpret flood related stories from East Hull community workshops into creative, live performances, including visual art, music and poetry. These two live events were extended and made part of Hull, Ferens Art Gallery, environmental exhibition ‘Rise Of Hull’.
I purposefully designed this installation to be hung externally, giving access to view this piece for everyone. presently on show at the TimeBank East Hull.
The Risky Cities ‘Flow Of Words’ project was an initiative, aimed to build climate resilience through cultural, emotional, and artistic engagement with Hull’s watery history. These artistic responses were designed to make abstract climate narratives, such as the 800-year history of flooding in Hull, more tangible, personal and actionable, transforming community voices into lasting cultural, expressions.
